Check fuel pressure first it may be a plugged return line, pressure regulator, etc. see link.

I have a 94 Honda Accord. There's a loud rattling noise coming from the area around the engine. It started out only happening when the car was idle or had just been started but now the noise has gotten really loud, is constant, and there is a green liquid leaking from my car. What is wrong with my car and how much will the be repairs be?

Could be your water pump is shot? The bearings bad which make it wobble as it's connected to a drive belt. A new pump cost from under $30 to over $100 depending on where you purchase it and whether it is genuine honda or not. And labor cost also depends on where you get it fixed. So you are likely looking at a total of under $100 to over $200. And if any other work/parts are needed to complete the job the price goes up accordingly.

I have a 94 Honda Accord and it starts up good without hesitation and seems to run perfectly, but lately if I turn off the engine and go to turn it back on within a few minutes it starts up and then stalls immediately. Then it just makes a noise like it's trying to start, but it doesn't. What makes it wierder is that everytime it does this the power windows will work without the key in the ignition. As soon as the windows stop working without the key the car starts back up normally. When it first started I would only have to wait a minute before it would start back up, but now it takes like 5-10 mins before it will start again and sometimes I think it's not going to start back up at all. Do you know what this could be?

Hi jesicka,

I suspect the main relay is faulty.

The power window should not be working without the ignition on so if the main relay solves the starting problem, you still need to get the ignition switch checked.

Does the dash indicator lights stays on when the engine stalls after starting?

You may want to test your ignition switch to see if it's functioning properly.
You may also want to test for weak spark (just enough spark to allow it to start for a split-second) or weak fuel pressure as well.

First step is to check fuel and spark.

You are most likely missing both.

What is common on these vehicles are ignition coils and ICM's failing. This would cause no spark.

I have a 94 Honda Accord Lx. It doesn't start when it's very hot outside and is even beginning to cut off while I'm driving in hot weather. It doesn't do this at night or in cool or cold weather. I was told that I needed a new distributor. I got that installed, but I'm still having the same problem. Could anyone tell me what the problem with my car might be? Thanks.

Hi,

I have answered many questions that are similar in nature and I suspect it is the main relay. Try it and if it works, please let me know so I know I am not giving the wrong answer.

A couple weeks ago I jumped into my car and took off, maybe acouple blocks down my car just dies out.I had a full tank of gas.I thought it was the fuel pump so I changed it out, but still nothing.A few times before all this happened there were times when I would start my car and it would die out right away.I would have to turn off the key and try again until it started. Now it wont start at all. Please help me cuz I need my car for work. Thank you very much!

Check the vehicle for strong spark (blue/white spark) and proper fuel pressure. About 38psi.

My son was driving his Honda Accord and first the headlights starting dimming, next the car was making noises and finally the speedometer needle was jumping back and forth between 0 and 120 very fast. We replaced the battery and now the car won't start at all.

Any suggestions? Thank you!

Hi cindym44,

1. Can the engine be cranked?
2. Are the dash lights showing with ignition switch turned to ON?
3. What kind of noise was present?
4. Can the headlights work with the new battery?
