Chances are the fuel pressure is dropping when the engine is off. Try this. Cycle the switch from off to the run position three times, waiting a couple seconds in the run position before turning it back off. If pressure is an issue, that will allow the fuel pump to re-pressurize the system and then when you try to start the engine, it should go right away. Also, if you have a fuel pressure gauge, you can connect it, start the engine to check fuel pump pressure, and then turn the engine off and the pressure should hold for some time. One last thing, often times, worn plugs will cause a delayed start. It has a lot of miles, so if it hasn't been tuned up recently, that may a consideration.

Check out this guide for hard starting.

Please run down this guide and report back

This is a real common problem caused by the battery was recently disconnected or run dead. The Engine Computer lost its memory and has to relearn "minimum throttle" before it will know when it has to be in control of idle speed. Until then you may need to hold the accelerator pedal down 1/4" to start the engine, you wont get the nice idle flare-up to 1500 rpm at start-up, and it will tend to stall at stop signs.

To meet the conditions for the relearn to take place, drive at highway speed with the engine warmed up, then coast for at least seven seconds without touching the pedals.

Hello MARCHELLE,

If you decide you would like to conduct the scan yourself here is a link to an article that features written step by step instructions and pictures explaining how to do the scan yourself, also I have included a link to our YouTube channel with a how to video on code scanning. Most scanners are inexpensive to purchase, you can purchase one online from sites like Amazon.com

Try this spray some carb cleaner into the throttle body and see what happens-if it starts and dies out-check the fuel pressure. If it doesn't check the igntion system then report back your findings.

No crank at all/nothing/nada:

Could be the starter, starter relay, clutch switch/park and neutral switch and ignition switch assuming the battery and connections are good.

No problem but as I try to start car, there is no noise, no clicks, nothing. Why? First of all, a click clack kind of noise started sounding while I drove the car on the freeway. Then when I coasted, sometimes the car would just shut off, I would have to pull over, turn car off, and start it up again. This started about 2-3 months ago, sporadically.

Then, the car started to have trouble getting into gears (from P to D, P to R, D to R and back.) All the while, the click-clack noise (coming from under the hood I think) was still there. This started getting worst only about 2 weeks ago.

And now, the car won't even start. =( I turn the key in the ignition, all the lights work, windows roll up and down, radio turns on) and then I go to start the car and. Nothing. No click, No sounds, nothing. I don't know what is going on.

Any advice?

**No crank at all/nothing/nada when key is engage to starting position

Could be a blown fusible link, the starter, starter relay, clutch switch/park and neutral switch/transmission position switch and ignition switch assuming the battery condition and connections are good. Note:If it doesn't apply disregard.

Wow. Thats a lot of options of what is wrong! Lol. I tried to jump start just now and nothing. If it were the starter, wouldn't it have at least made some kind of noise or click?

Last week it was idling high at red lights. Then last night just before pulling into the driveway the battery light came on then all the lights came on and the air conditioner started blowing hot air. When we parked the car shut off and won't start. It makes a clicking sound and the lights one on but it won't turn over. The engine is new the alternator is new and the battery is new. What could this be?

Get a helper disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine atleast 3/16 away from ground-have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, Do you hear the fuel pump come On when you turn key on? If not check fuel pump fuse and fuel pump relay if okay-check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, coil's resistances, cap and rotor, distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, cam and crank sensors and computer Note: If it doesn't apply disregard it and keep testing
