Engine problem
1999 Dodge Magnum V6 Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 128000 miles

WE JUST REPLACED THE HEADS ON MY 1999 DODGE INTREPIDE AFTER MY TIMING CHAIN SLIPPED SOME TEETH. KNOW WE PUT IT BACK TOGETHER AT IT TURNS OVER BUT WILL NOT START. NO SPARK. SHOULD I REPLACE THE TIMING CHAIN AND IF SO DO I NEED TO REPLACE THE TENSIONER AS WELL. ANY OTHER IDEAS TO TRY. MAYBE THERE IS A TRICK TO TIMING THE 2.7 ENGINE. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT.

Hi:
Have a helper turn the key to the start position while you check for power to the smaller wire on the starter. You should have 12 volts. Let me know what you find.

i have a 06 magnum 2.7l engine and when the car sits overnight and I go to start it it has trouble starting. It to the dealer and they did a test on the battery, alternator and starter and it checked out fine and they also checked out the fuel system and that also checked out fine. It only has trouble starting when it sits for more than 4 hours.

Can you explain the symptoms clearer?

For example:

Does it turn over a lot before it starts?

Does it turn over real slow?

What do you mean by hard crank? Does it sound differently when the starter is engaged? If so, have you checked timing?

Yes it sounds different than a normal start. The timing belt? I didn't think if that since it had to e loosen to take the alternor off. IDK Im lost with this car. It's too nice of a car to let it go. Doesn't sound like fuel pump is turning on when tryin to start the car that's y we changed the fuel pump

Since it sounds differently, check timing. If I recall, this year has a chain which usually won't break. However, I have seen them jump a tooth.

Let me know what you find.

This may sound funny, but are the brake lights working? The park lock solenoid is actuated by the brake light switch.

Let me know.

Have a 2005 Dodge Magnum 3.5. Have a problem starting car. It is an issue with the security system or some computer system. If I lock doors as normal and unlock doors and enter vehicle and put key in and turn key. There are NO lights (absolutely no dash lights) on dash and nothing when I turn the key. If I do the same procedure and turn the key and wait aprox 10 seconds the lights on dash will come on and car will start. Then usually the car will start several times after that. I have ordered an duplicate key, changed ignition switch, change immobilizer and same thing. I have brought it to dodge dealership and they told me it was a bad front body control module and integrated power module. I changed that had it programmed and still same symptom. Please help

Here's the major clue:

"There are NO lights (absolutely no dash lights) on dash and nothing when I turn the key."

Follow the smaller positive battery wire to the under-hood fuse box and be sure that connection is clean and tight. That connection is responsible for intermittently dead electrical systems on almost all car brands and models.

I have a 2005 dodge magnum and my problem is with starting the vehicle. Turn the key. Engine starts and dies right away. Battery still good, seems like bad connection?

Just had that problem with my 2005 Magnum. Turned out the battery holder in key broke and it fell over on to the sensor that activates the antitheft alarm. I was lucky enough to take it apart clean and repair it. Otherwise you are looking at least 200.00 for dealer to recode key. Try that or disconnect battery to reset alarm. There are several forums that discuss "our" very problem. Good luck. So much for the "expert" Let me know what happened.

Engine Mechanical problem
2005 Dodge Magnum 6 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic 103086 miles

i have a 05 dodge magnum. Just recently, I have had problems starting the vehicle. The radio, the lights, and heater will come and it will not turn over. I found at one time, if I touched the brakes, it would start. Now I have to play around with the steering wheel for the car to start. This does not happen all the time. I have had the cables to the battery checked but not on a tester. I have noticed if the radio or cd was left in it takes longer to start. Now my seat warmers will not come on. The engine light will come on briefly as well as the anti theft red light and it will not give a code. I havent had to call for a tow truck bc it will eventually crank the shortest 1 minute the longest 20 minutes.
