I have the same car, same exact problem happened to me yesterday. Driving down the road it was like I shut off the car. Lost all power to everything except cigarette lighter and the gauge lites. I cant even get theto hazzards to work. I also replaced battery a few weeks ago. My first guess is the fused lnks to the starter but I have not had time to check it out.

Check to see if you have compression and then if it's jumped time. The timing chain may have slipped.

Fuse links where indeed broken. Charred actually. We spliced and replaced them however that apparently didn't seem to do the trick. Hoping you found something else. (Alternator is 100%the by the way)

Then if everything is great it should run. Check your compression and then go to the site under tune up on how to check your ignition system. Something has to bewrong if it doesn't start. How much fuel is coming to carb you shold have ahalf a pint or so with about 3 or 4 cranks. Does it have good pressure?

Great car! You need to check to see if the engine is getting spark and fuel. If you haven't changed the fuel from 10 years ago, it needs done. The old fuel will not run the engine.

I would also add a fuel filter and battery to the previous good advice. Don't be surprise if you end up with some serious carb or fuel injector problems, depending which it has.

The Engine Computer detected a problem, set a diagnostic fault code in memory, and turned on the Check Engine light to let you know. Having the code(s) read is the place to start. They will point you to the circuit or system that needs further diagnosis. Many auto parts stores will read those codes for you for free.
