Did a tune up, cranks but no start?

Yes, the distributor could be in a tooth off. TDC the distributor should be pointing right at #1 on the compression stroke. You can use a compression gauge to help know when you are on the compression stroke.

Okay will do. We have every aspect of a running engine, and I didn’t place the new distributor in the same exact way the old one was. I did plugs, wires, and distributor cap all at once so I’m just assuming the timing is off, after doing all of those test and seeing the backfire.

I did not. It ended up being a 1 1/4 (32mm). Me and my dad are doing the timing today when I get off of work. I pray she starts up, thank you for all your help. I’ll let you know how it goes.
