My transmission will not engage why?

Hi billymac here. Two things it could be the most likely is input and output sensors. These are two sensors on the front of the trans not that bad to get too in this vehicle. They are less then 20 dollars a piece. Change them and disconnect the neg cable for 5 mins or so and test drive. The other thing is the trans computer this is mounted under the hood. There will be two computers together one is for the trans the other for the eng. These are around 100 dollars. Before you buy any parts smell the trans fluid if it smells burnt trans is failing. Check the fluid level and color. If it is low or burnt it can cause this. It is also possible the filter has come loose, Chrysler has an issue with that.

Well the electrical issues sound like the multi-function switch or it's wiring. You mentioned the indicator doesn't work as well. Did you buy this van new or used? If used it's possible someone else was under that dash. Does this van have remote door locks or start?

Emission codes are common as well. Post the actual code, as very seldom do the codes actually point to a sensor, usually it's a faulty circuit or a different issue causing the sensor code. The code at least gives a starting point.
