The mechanic is wanting to charge 255.00 to put in new ignition module. He says he has to drop the starter to get to metal plate of the module. Is this true?

The crankshaft position sensor broke off in the block. The part that broke was where the wire harness plugs into sensor the rest of the sensor is stuck in the block is it safe to push the sensor into oil pan and leave it there without damaging the engine or transmission? Thank you

Hey CHYANNE,

9 times out of 10 this would be okay. It is a bit of a gamble because it may get stuck somewhere on the crankshaft and when you crank the engine over it will lodge causing problems.

Is there a reluctor ring on this crankshaft (92 chevy corsica 3.1 v6) before I try to knock it in oil pan? Can I drive car without knock sensor?

There is no reluctor ring and yes you can drive it without a knock sensor but the check engine light will be on.

UPDATE. Finally had the broke crankshaft position sensor removed. My brother removed it in 3 hours. He had to drop the oil pan. It was the cps that caused the " no start"
