Power windows not working?

Problem One: My power window on the passenger side will not work. After thinking it was the motor in the window, I replaced it, however it still does not work. It seems like that side of the car is not getting power to it. The power locks work on that side of the car, but not the switch that operates the window. I also checked to see if the fuses were out, they are all in good shape. I am not sure what is causing this and how to fix it.
Problem Two: The driver side window is working, but I am getting the feeling that it is about to go out. It will roll up and down and when it gets to the top it makes a loud noise almost like a clicking sound. I am not sure what is wrong with it or how to address this problem.

Hi k83,

If the rear window is working correctly, then it is not a power supply problem unless some wires have broken off between the switch and body. It could be a faulty master or passenger side switch. If any fails, you would not be able to control the window motor. For the motor to produce abnormal noises, most likely the regulator is failing and you might have to replace it soon. This guide will help you test for power with the window wiring diagrams featured below.

Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what happens.

Just bought a 1999 Honda Accord Coupe. The passenger window will not go down (automatic). What is a reasonable cost for this fix? I can hear the motor trying to roll it down, but not sure why it won't go down.

Symptoms indicates the window regulator is most probably bad. You would have to remove the door trim to check and cost of repair would depend on what needs to be replaced.

This video will show you how to fix it

Please run down these guides and report back.

My daughter has a 97 Accord EX with approx 104K miles. She called from college 2 nights ago and told me that all of her power windows are opening and closing veeeery slow. This happens with the car running. One time she had to push up on the drivers window in order to close it. She'll be home for Xmas break and I would like to get this fixed. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

A few things come to mind. How many of the windows are running slow? Do the rear windows run slow as well? They don't get used nearly as often and thus could serve as a comparison. Some will say that the age of the motors is the problem. I can understand that on the driver side window as that gets put up and down a lot. So.

There could be a possibility that you might want to replace a motor or two, but first.

The one thing I have found it that the rubber in the guides gets dry, etc. I would try spraying the track with Son of a Gun or something similar. Make sure it gets to the full length of the track. This will act as a lube and hopefully help condition the track material. It may take a little time and a couple of applications to work but it will help. You could even open a door panel and put some spray grease on the moving parts as they may be very dry. Last resort of course is new parts.

Bruce,
Thanks for your suggestions. She'll be home in a few weeks and I'll give that lubrication a try. Someone else had mentioned that there is a "Master relay switch", in the drivers door, that controls all of the power windows. They said that this relay might be wearing out. Do you know anything about this?

Yes, there is a master relay in the door. Someone else might be able to answer the weakness. I have never replaced one or had need to replace one. I could not dig up any material on whether they get weak over time.

Electrical problem
1997 Honda Accord 4 cyl Automatic

my car has power windows but the drivers side has a control for all windows and my problem is that the drivers side window wont go up. Now all other windows are working fine. The window in question did the same thing a few days ago but after a while it did go back up not this time though. So how would I know if it's the motor or switch or maybe something else?It was raining when it started acting up originally.

You would have to remove the door panel and check to see if the motor was getting power and ground.

I am able to make the passenger's side window go down, but when I press the switch up, nothing happens. The same thing happens with the passenger side switch (this is a coupe).

I don't know if this is a relay problem or something else.

It could very well be the relay, but it could also be the window motor or window regulator.

My passenger window would go down, but had a hard time going back up. About a week ago, the window just started going down on its own and will not go back up. I can hear a noise like it is trying, but nothing happens. I have tried the driver switch as well as the passenger switch. Also, the driver side window will not go down at all. Please help.

Sound as if the motor and or window regulator has failed. Remove the door trim and check for power on the up and down side of the plug, if this is okay, replace the regulator and motor assembly and with this also clean and lube the window Baily channels as well.

Okay, not a bad job, to do, just make sure you have the power on both sides of the motor, and if all okay replace regulator and motor and all should be okay.
