Hi Blatant1,

A MAF problem can cause the O2 sensor to trigger a trouble code or vice versa.

What were the exact codes?

Did you test the fuel pressure? Get a leak donew test done as well.

The fuel filter is a non serviceable item located in fuel tank but it sometimes leaks internally and this would cause fuel pressure drops.

If the filter is the cause, you would require prolonged cranking to start if the engine had been left standing for a while.

I recently replaced a honda accord lx 4cyl engine with a low milage engine that was workin great in other car. The old one had a bad head. The new engine now will idle a little rough but will not accelerate above 1000rpm if you hold pedal above 1000rpm at about 2000rpm the idle will go up and down and will not accelerate at all without falling on its face back to idle speed

I have a 99 honda accord lx f23a1 and well recently we swapped out the motor with another lower milage motor same motor but the problem is the car will start fine the idle good around 1800 and well when stepping on the gas the rpm will hop up and down like choking and not wanting to stay at an idle, you can rest the foot on the gas and see the rpm will not rev pass 3k eventually it will BOG then shut off, can it be due to a vacum hoses or O2 sensor or throtle cables? We swapped everything back as is, if the car sits it stays at steady idle, so do you guys have a ANSWER?

Hi there,

First thing try to get a code read, that may help diagnosed your problem, A fer things to check. Fuel pressure and fuel filter is not blocked. Blocked exhaust collapsed cat converter. When engine is revved free exhaust flow at rear. Try these first.

What needs to be done to my honda 99 after being tested and code p0740 came up showing that the clutch solenoid circuit is open? Also when flushed out the fluid was almost black with pieaces of metal in and on the flush plug and slipping occurs while driving with poor acceleration.

Hi there,

With what you are describing I would say that your transmission is well over due for overhauling as the black oil and metal are signs of component failure due to slippage and overheating.

If the Check Engine Light is indicating, get a scan done to retrieve the trouble codes and proceed from there.
