I have a ford ranger that will not start. Listening to it
sounds like it's not getting any gas. I checked the plugs it doesn't some to have any sign of gas. I changes the fuel fillter, still nothing. I was thanking the fuel pump, but the truck has two. Before I go and get a new pump I was wondering if there was I way to check the fuel pump before I spend the money for a new one.

Do you hear the fuel pump come On when you turn key to run-If not could be the fuel pump fuse, fuel pump relay and inertia fuel cut off switch. If so check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel pumps.

Wire the fuel pump direct from the battery and see what happens.

I have a 1987 Ranger, and the same thing happened to me, I bought and installed both fuel pumps before I realized that is was one of my relays on the relay wall close to the engine. I replaced the relay and everything started working, my pumps, a/c, heat, radio. Everything. It was as simple as that. Check your relays for corrosion inside where the coils are in the relay, if bad then go to a salvage yard and cut off another and just splice it to your truck. If thats not the case then it could be your pump inside the tank, or the other closer to the front. To check the gas pressure, you can pull a tube off the engine and when you turn it on it will spit out gass if its getting pressure.
