1996 Chevy Silverado engine wont fire

You might be able to use a digital multimeter, with the crank sensor plugged in, use a straight pin and back probe the signal wire, turn the key on, you don't have to crank. Have a helper turn the crank by hand, watch the signal, it should go from reference voltage to zero, back to ref, the signal would go back and forth as the crank is turned.

Well I got it fixed it was the crank sensor connector so I replaced the connector with new one and went ahead and replaced cranksenor also drove down the road about 3miles everything seeemed okay then it started acting up like misfiring so I went to turn around and I smelled like something was burning and the truck shut off I got out and it smelled around the ecm so I tried to restart and im getting no fire again anyway the ecm could be shot?
