Have replaced battery, fuel filter, fuel pump relay. Took to mechanic who kept it a week because it started sometimes and did not sometimes. He replaced air filter, cap and rotor, plugs and wires, crank sensor and hall effect sensor. He also checked fuel pressure which was good and hooked up to a different computer. So, $466 later truck will crank and has spark and fuel but still will not start even though it sounds like it is going to. When this first started we could jump it off and get it to start but not now.

If you have spark and fuel, the engine should run. Have you checked to make sure the fuel injectors are getting power. You could have good fuel pressure at the rail, but if the injectors don't put the fuel into the engine, it won't run.

See if it will start for a couple seconds using starting fluid. If it does, then the problem is fuel related.

Let me know what you find.

What was done to the vehicle before this problem occurred? Ive seen a distributor off a tooth, or two, and give similiar results. Can you fill us in with some more details?

Used starter fluid and got truck started. Drove it around and it ran fine. As of now it will still start without assistance.

It sounds like you have what I call a lazy fuel pump. My guess is that the fuel pressure was too weak to start it. It may work for awhile and then start again. If it starts again with starting fluid and then runs, replace the pump.

Took the bed off today and replaced the fuel pump. Truck started right up and has run great all day. Looks like a lazy fuel pump was the problem. Thanks for yoyr assistance.
