My engine will not start up?

So I can start my car fine and drive it but when I turn it off I can't restart it for at least an hour because it won't start. It will sound like it is starting but then won't. I have noticed lights on the dash and the cig lighter quit working so I think its electrical but how do I check that?

Does the engine turn over and not start or does it not turn over until it cools down?

Only after I have already started it successfully and then turned it off and thats when it sounds like it is turning but yet does not start. I am afraid it is something that I won't be able to fix. I am pregnant and need a reliable car and hopefully this is something I can fix so it won't cost a fortune.

Unfortunatly Brandi, you are going to have to do some testing under the hood to find out why it wont start if it is cranking. Need to see if it has spark and fuel pressure to figure out where to start.

I live in seattle and don't know a good place to go for this testing and what can I expect to pay so I know if they are being legit.

Normally diagnostic will be around 1 hour of shop labor, and if you have them repair it they will blend it in with the cost of the repair
