Hey Matt.

Sorry didn't get back to you yesterday family/time zone etc..I got a reply off them late yesterday saying the same thing ! I have a real problem with their statement that your vehicle is not EOBD compliant. My software alway's worked when I used the correct plug ! I'm tempted to say just buy the plug and this software www. Gendan. Co. Uk/product_VAUXCHK. Html. And we could try this, to save you money. But these guys at UKOBD make the plugs so it may only work with their software? And I cannot find the plug anywhere else !. As for the software from UKOBD it sounds real good and if it does all it says it does (ie.) ABS/IMMO/EEPROM etc. I would be buying it if I was still in england. My software subscription alone was  1000 per year for vaux/opel ! But of course I would easily make my money back as I work in the business. If you are going to stick with vauxhall vehicles in the future this could also be invaluable to you if they are going to update software for free and it does say on the website regularly updated. Of course you could buy the software and advertise your services as a vauxhall diagnostic. The immoboliser's on the vaux range are alway's going down in a carpark of asda. LOL. It really annoy's me that if you bought your car 6 month's later it would cost  60/70. To buy the tool. So I'm jabbering. Lol. Your best option if you are going to stick with vauxhall cars is to buy this software with a gaurentee it will work on your vehicle or your money back. You cannot go wrong if it work's especially in the future. I'm loath to have you spend all this money knowing full well that any future cars you buy will be easily read by a cheaper bit of kit ! The vauxcheck software is good I have used it. But they are not offering the plug for your vehicle. This is why I am saying the UKOBD plug may only work with their software? And UKOBD have been around for a few years. I have bought off them before and alway's had good product's . Let me know what you decide. !

Hi Dave,

I have thought about it all and decided i'm just oing to stick the car on ebay!

It's not so important now that my wife has a new car and i'm just a bit fed up with trying to sort the thing out!

Thanks so much for all your advice, it has been invaluable and when my works car does break down I will make sure I buy a vectra that is '99 or later!

Vectra's are ideal cars for me because they're cheap to run and have a good bit of space for me to fit all my work tools in as well as my surfboard!

If I have any trouble with future cars I will certainly come to this site for advice!

Thanks again Dave, take it easy,

Matt

Hey Matt.

I think you are making a wise decision. It is a lot of money for a bit of kit you may never use again ! And as you say if you buy another vectra it will be newer, and you can get the same kit for  50. So it is worth the wait (hopefully you won't need it. Lol). Although I hate loose ends and would have loved to have got to the bottom of this. Lol . (Did you try cleaning the MAF?) But hey this forum sets me a challenge everyday LOL. Please spread the word of our forum to your friends and family. Hope you sell the car soon, and hopefully you will never need the forum again. But we are here if you do !

Happy Motoring.
