My truck is in mint condition despite it's age otherwise I wouldn't be wasting your time; problem is that for the last couple of weeks, every now and then while cruising the door locks (all of them) pop up, which causes me to lock them using the control module, and that was fine until I got home last night, next thing in the morning the truck would't start as the battery was dead, well I proceeded to charge the battery and and turn the ignition on only that after letting it run for a while I turned it off, went in the house got a change of clothes got in the truck and voila, the truck not only wouldn't turn on again, but door locks went haywire. Where exactly would the problem be? Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

Sounds like a problem with the central locking control unit, I would see if a scan will pick up any body control unit problems, start here.

I worked on it this morning and after tussling a bit with the paneling I managed to get it out: I don't have a circuit proof gadget, but opening it looks to me like it can be fixed as long as the shortage source is located. Am I right?

This will depend on what has failed, may be cheaper and quicker to try a known good second hand unit.

The relay blew the coil.I'd better search for another.I forgot to tell you, the alternator was also damaged as a result of the short circuit. Domino effect.
