Cranks but will not fire after taking out battery to recharge it. Horn and lights come on. Could this be a security issue?

The red car with the key inside icon is on solid when I turn the ignition on and does not go off. Engine turns over well but will not fire. I am sure something is locked out because the vehicle started well before I removed the battery. Is there any way to disable the immobilization system so I don't have to pay for a tow to the city and then reprogram the key? I have tried everything (unlocking/locking doors and hatch, using all remotes and keys separately etc.) And nothing works.

Also to be clear, the horn and light don't come on anymore. The security icon flashes normally when leaving car. Stays on solid whenignition on and trying to start vehicle. Thanks. Just want to bypass the immobilization system

Hello,

You can not bypass the system becasue it is built into the computer. By Chance did you connect the battery backwards for a second? Have you checked all of the fuses? For the horn there is a fuse and there are 5 fuses for the interior lights, here is a wiring diagram so you can find them, if there are fuses blown it will cause the security light to stay on.

Please run this test and get back to us so we can continue helping you.

Best, Ken

I have checked all the fuses in the right rear of the engine compartment and alsoon the right side of the dash behind the glove box. All fuses are good except for a tow/haul fuse which I replaced. Still no luck

Lets try rebooting the system, remove the negative battery cable for 15 minutes and then reconnect it to see if the system boots back up.

Please let us know what happens.

If the security light is on solid then a mechanic will have to scan to see what is wrong with security system if you tried a reset and it didn't work then ok there are two systems on this all doors must be closed then lock doors with key fob, unlock doors with KEY. Have in Park or Nuetral with foot on brake and attempt to start. Also try another key if it doesn't start. If this doesn't work then it has to have a mechanic see what is wrong with system. Also this is assuming battery is in good shape including been load tested as low voltage will not allow vehicle to start.
