Back up light switch should be on the top of the transaxle where the shift cable is attached.

Good afternoon!
I recently had a problem with my camry and it was stuck in park, and the brake lights weren't lighting up. I replaced the brake switch and solved that problem, however i've noticed lately that my reverse lights aren't working and I recall during an oil change recently they mentioned a couple other lighs (license plates) weren't lighting up. Does that have to do with an incorrect installation of the brake switch, and is this something I could do by myself.

Hi there,

All these lights work independent form each other, the rego lights will more than likely be a globe, and the reverse lights a faulty switch on the gear box is the globes are OK, check this out first.

You probably have some broken wires in the trunk harness. The harness runs down the drivers side trunk hinge and behind the interior trunk liner. Breaks are usually where the harness meets the liner.

If bulbs are OK then check the fuse (#2 10 amp).

If bulbs and fuses are good then suspect faulty back-up light switch. The back up light switch is mounted on the transmission.

Hello. I have a 1994 Toyota Camry 2-door with 4-cylinder engine and automatic transmission. I am experiencing some sort of electrical problem, I'm pretty sure, but I don't know what it is I need to get fixed. What happens is when you put the car in reverse, the two white backup lights do not always come on. Also, when the backup lights do not come on, the orange "R" (showing what gear you are in) on the dashboard does not come on. It seems, however, that when you jiggle the gear shift handle, it sort of "helps" the lights come on. Also, when you put the car in other gears, the lights on the dashboard do not always come on (and the lights are NOT burned out); again, however, jiggling the handle makes them come on and they sort of "flicker" sometimes when they first come on. If I could get an answer to what this problem is or if I need to clarify any further details, please let me know. Thanks.

If adjustment does not help, you would have to replace the Park Neutral Position switch.

I own a 1994 Toyota Camry 4 Door 4-Cyl, 132K miles, Automatic Transmission. When I put the car in reverse, the "R" light on the dashboard and the backup lights on the rear do not work always. They sometimes light up but many times fail to work. All other lights work on the dashboard. The tail light, brake light etc. All work.
By reading other forums, I gathered that it might be the transmission linkage problem. Please guide me how to fix this issue.

Regards,
Sachin

Need to have a test light ready so that when they arent working you can check for power at the bulbs. Otherwise it would probably be the trans position switch
