Try lubing hazzard switch. It interacts with turn signals. Or just replace it? You also may have a bad multi sitch which is your turn signal assembly. Could be wire loose or bent contact, etc.

If you haven't already got the issue fixed, try calling a gm service tech and provide them with your vin number. I have a 2000 that did the same thing and it was recalled so they fixed it for free. It has something to do with bad soldering.

When you start the car the blinker works but when you put the car in drive and start driving it stops working.

My blinker works when it wants too, should I pay $200-$400 to get the wiring fixed or is this a simple fix that I can do?

Ashwome,

Has an inspection been performed that found a wiring problem? If that is a shops diagnosis, ok; however, the common failure for this problem is the turn signal/hazard flasher mounted in the center of your dashboard.

Next time your turn signals don't activate try rapping firmly near the hazard button, preferably above it without actually touching the switch. The relay contacts often fail and may reconnect from the bumping. If this is symptom, I recommend taking it to a dealer that has performed this repair before. Removing the center vent and two 7mm screws is difficult without damaging either component.

Regards,

It sounds like the switch itself is bad. I would check that first.
