No coil spark

Have no spark coming out of a brand new coil. What can cause this to happen?

Using a voltmeter, what is the voltage to the positive side of the coil with the key in the "on" position?

Is there any kind of history that may have influenced this problem?

I did test the positive side with my meter and had voltage there. I read that both wires to coil should have power when key is on, so I am unclear about that. Should the negative side have voltage or no voltage when key is on?

Without digging for anymore information right now.

This would be my first guess to a sudden engine death and then discovering spark is not present. Like I said, best guess without further testing. See link below:

Insure you use some of that heat sync grease behind it, so that heat will dissipate through the distributor body.
