Recently bought a 2001 xterra. Been sitting for at least a good year without starting. Has 48000 miles on it. Go tnew battery. Battery lines also oil change. Every thing seems to turn on but the car willl not turn over at all my mechanic said its a computer issue.I understand the car sat for a yr without any start. Assuming thats the problem. Told me I have to send it to a nissan dealership. Is this a costly issue any help I would be grateful

Doesnt sound like a computer problem, has he checked for power at the starter motor?

I will have to ask but I did see him check the engine pretty good. The car has been siiting I think even more than a yr with a dead battery. Someone else told me it might be the computer. All the lights work fine nice and bright. Told me he had a maxima with the same problem. Sat for a long time and would not start just like mine. Recommended the dealer.

Its a pretty basic system, he should be able to tell you if its the computer or not by doing some fairly routine wire checks.
