Is the ambient air temp sensor reading the outside air properly? And it dont work when you have it in manual so the in vehicle temp sensor is not the issue. So if ambient air is good chances are the blend door actuator is binding up if you cannot hear it moving around.

Air Conditioning problem
1996 Lincoln Town Car V8

Sometimes I get cold air and sometimes not. A new compressor installed and rechecked, could be either auto control module or other like temp sensor. How do I get a code from the AC, pressing floor & off together does not work, also where is temp sensor? Are Towncar & Continental modules the same, they look alike.

Run the self diagnostic test on it by turning the key to on, then press off and floor at the same time, then within 2 secs, press auto, If there is a problem a trouble code will appear on the display. To exit self test, press the BLUE, cooler button this also retains error codes, To erase code and exit, press defrost, choose one of these before you power down the system. Test with engine at 120 degrees or more, and cabine between 40-90 degrees. Post any codes recorded here and I let you know what's defective.

Would just like to find out if there could possibly be a low cost/quick fist to look into (i.E. A fuse problem, etc.) Before I need to take this into a mechanic.

Also, if I need to bring this in, can you let me know what typically problems can cause this?

Thanks

Air Conditioning problem V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 159000 miles

I have a 1995 Lincoln town car and my a/c only blow hot. The a/c panel is working but it will not blow cold at all. I check the fuses under the dash and under the hood, they all look fine. I check the relay buy switching the a/c relay with the fuel relay and the engine started up and the a/c is still the same.

So I research it a little bit and I did the EATC self test and it came up with code 125. Then I was told that I should clear the DTC from the EATC and then see if the code came back. It did not come back, I did not get code 125 again.

I do not know if I need to wait and see if it comes back on or what.

Also my software desplay was C05120C42D16.

It is very hot in South Carolina and I need to fix this problem fast.

125 is an intermittent code for the Vehicle Speed Sensor. IT sounds like it might be the control head itself going bad which that car had a problem with.

Here is a guide that will help you get the problem fixed.

The clutch is not engaging at all. The Relays are working and the fuses are all good.

I did the self test again and it came up with 115 and 125

115 is also listed as an intermittent fault. Need to get gauges on it to see if the system pressure is enough to turn it on.

Not that Im aware of. When it comes to a/c you have to be sure the pressures are good, otherwise the system wont engage thec ompresssor

Ok I went to and ac repair shop and they tested it for free. They said that there is pressure to engage the clutch but there is no power getting to it. He said that it could be the control head or a few other thing that I forgot. I know that the fuses are good and the relays are good. What should I do next.

Do you have a test light or meter? If so go to the switch on the low side line (bigger a/c line) and seeif it has power in and out

I have figured it out. It is the control head and I have worked around it through fuses and the switch.
I do have one last question. Will the clutch engage and disengage on its own still. When I drive with the ac on it would engage and disengage every so often to keep it from freezing. Will it still do that if I wired it through the switch

Yes it should. The switch isnt what cycles it, the system sees the temp and goes from there. If I is cycling it may still be a tiny bit low on refrigerant. Even though it had ok static pressure, when running it may not have enough in it
