I need to knw approximately how long does it take for a mechanic shop to install a crankshaft position sensor?

The crank shaft position sensor is located behind the front engine cover so there is a bit of work to get to it, Mitchell 1 data base allows 3 hrs, to do the job but I feel that around 2 may be closer to the mark, so to stay safe anywhere between 2-3 should be ample time.

I recently replaced the crankshaft position sensor in my '02 Kia Sedona. No it will no idle correctly. What should I check next.

Twice the van quit running on me got OBD code and now a friend who I borrowed van from says it happened cause the van ran out of gas. Would it cause the crank shaft sensor 2 break?

Of course not. You did not list the fault code number or what is wrong with the crankshaft position sensor, but those often fail by becoming heat-sensitive, then they work again after they cool down for about an hour. They are a real common cause of intermittent stalling.

Running out of gas is a common occurrence. That can cause a fuel pump to overheat and fail, but it does not affect other parts.
