My Kia Spectra makes a loud "described as, squealing chalk mark noise" when running with the fan on and sometimes when the accelerator is applied w/out the fan on. Is this a bearing going out?
What do you think and where should I start?

Sounds like a belt squeal. I believe your car has a serpintine belt... one belt that drives all accessories such as A/C, power steering, alternator, etc. It might be going bad. I hope this helps.
