I have a 99 jeep grand cherokee limited with 229k miles on it. When I try to start it it acts like the battery is dead or dying if I dont give it gas. Then when I give it gas it'll turn over but as soon as I let my foot off the gas it will die out. Almost like the battery is dying again with the lights diming and things. Thanks for the help!

Hello -

If I understand you correctly it sounds like both your battery and alternator may be the issue.

The best way to check this out is to go to Auto Zone or O'Reilly's and for FREE they can bring their tester out and check your battery, alternator and starter. While there for FREE also have them pull the codes to the car. Most important: Once they check your codes, if they find something and you don't get it fixed and need to get back with us, please make sure you tell us exactly what the code was, number and all. Example, if the code was E0568 O2 Sensor bad. Then make sure you give us all of that.

I haven't ruled out the fuel pump with the miles you have on it, but with the light dimming I am going the first direction.

Let us know if this fixes it or you need more assistance.
