Jeep stalled all year then finally died. When it first started I replaced both 02 sensors muffler catalytic convertor exhaust manifold. It ran rough still. Then died completely replaced cam and cps. Ran but rough. Then realized mechanic strung the 02 wires along manifold and melted. Soldered them replaced fuse. No change. Then I got stranded with a no start. Crank but no start. Replaced ignition switch and coil. No start or click crank nothing. Replaced starter battery and negative to solenoid. Cranks like a mother but no start. Was told maybe timing chain. Or cylinder? Idk anymore.. All this info I've been reading online.I just wanna cry. Lol. Whats the next move?

Have you checked to see if the engine is getting spark and fuel? Does it sound odd when the starter is engaged turning the engine?

According to the mechanic. It cranks hard and he keeps saying it's internal. A crank or timing chain. I think he should know whether it s the chain by simply watching the distributor turn while hand cranking. Right?

If I recall, the distributor runs off the crank on this engine. If the timing chain is broken, it will have a much different sound when cranking it. What happens is the cam isn't turning. Thus, valves are left in the open position and there will be no compression in a few cylinders. As a result, the starter will sound like it is working hard one second followed by a speeding up sound when the cylinders go up with open valves. It will not have the steady sound you normally hear.
