I have a d16 vtec with a rod knocking, I want to rebuild it and boost the crap out of it. I live in north county san diego and need a mech. Any ideas?

If you swap your motor, I'd look into something besides a d16y8. The d16y-series motors have a tendency to spin bearings. The reason behind that is because they flow about 11gpm less than the obd1 d16 motors.

I've boosted the d16y8's with high success as well, just make sure you use proper oil lines, i'd probably even use an oil cooler if you are pushing somewhat high numbers or into track use.

I am from Canada, so unforunately I cannot find you a mechanic over there. All I can say is make sure you upgrade your fuel injectors to atleast 450cc's, upgrade your fuel pump and get your ECU socketed and TUNED on a dyno. Not just a basemap tossed in.

If you have any further questions, ask away.
