My last question about the 2006 Honda Civic. Can I change any of the con/rod bearings without removing the engine? If I have to remove the engine, can it come out of the top, because I have read that it needs to come out from the bottom? I was also asked what color the shavings were? What does that indicate? The shavings were silver, and very small. Thank you so much for all of the help that you have given.

Yes all can be changed from the bottom by removing the oil pan.

The color of the shavings the color could indicate possibly why the bearing failed. Copper colored shavings is a sign that the eng is just wore out.

As where silver shavings may indicate that a bearing just went bad. The diff between replacing the crank or the bearings.
