I recently had the timing belt, distrib & water pump replaced. Since then it has begun leaking oil. Unfortunatly the shop that did the work has shut down. Also I had the oil sending unit replaced. I am leaking oil from behind the motor.( Between motor & fire wall. I can not see whear it is actually leaking at. I can only tell by the oil spot on the carport. Does any one have suggestions whear the leak may be at.

Check to see that the oil sending unit is tight

On 1990-1995 Accords (except V-6) and 1988-1995 Preludes, look for it above or below the oil filter, threaded into the side of the engine block.

My check engine light came on steady. Oil appears to be leaking from the front and rear of the engine block. The leak is extremely slow when the car is sitting, but appears to be leaking faster and burning when car is running. Could it be the head gaskets, seals or the valve cover leak or do you think its something much more serious like the cylinders? With this amount of mileage on it, is it worth it to look into repairing any of it. Everything else on car is working fine. Car is still running without cutting off, plus I Just had some engine work done with crank position sensor, and a full tune up. Now engine light is on again. Please advise!

Hi there,

Before doing anything you should get the fault code read, report back the code and get the oil leak investigated and identified first, start here.

[b] I have a 95 honda accord with over 100k miles. I now have a oil leak. How difficult is it to change the oil pan? And where is the oil pan located? Is this something that happen often? About how many hours work this take and estm price. Could this be something else that is leaking?

It could be the oil pan that is leaking but it could be several other things as well. For instance, the oil pump is external and could be the problem. It is usually similar to the water pump and closely located under the timing covers. It could be an oil seal on the crankshaft and oil does move through a few other locations that could be leaking. It could be the transmission as well.

Investigate this further and determine where it is leaking by putting a fresh piece of cardboard under the engine and noting where the oil is dripping and thus where it comes from.

For your information, on as engines that I know of the oil pan is on the bottom of the engine.

Hi everyone, I have a 1995 Honda Accord EX, 2.2L V-TEC engine, 120,000 miles on it. While checking my transmission fluid, I noticed oil leaking from a thing on top of the oil sending unit. I took it to the honda dealer but they won't give me any information unless I pay a $100.00 diagnostic fee. Needless to say, this fee has nothing to do with the cost of the repair if I let them fix it. Can anyone please tell me what this part is and if it is expensive?

Hi,

I attached an exploded view of the top end of the engine. See if there is anything you may have missed. I have to ask. Has the valve cover gasket been replaced? Is the leak coming from the top of the engine and running down on the transmission?

Let me know.
Joe

I have a 95 accord EX 2.2 and I'm having all sorts of problems! First, I have a small oil leak, and my oil light comes on and blinks whil driving. My [automatic] transmission slips really bad, and I'm also losing coolant, so my engine will sometimes overheat. I have alot of modifications, one including lowering the chassis, so i've bottomed it out a couple of times. I guess my question is, how can I save this poor car? I want to take it step at a time. The oil, tranny, and the coolant. Any suggestions? :(

Fix the oil leak-find out why you losing coolant-maybe your burning it or thru leakage that your overheating. Transmission-maybe all it needs is fresh correct fluid and filter.
