I have a 1969 Ford Mustand Grande, with a 302 engine, automatic transmission and factory air...service regularly, tune up two weeks ago, new alternator and generator in last 3 years.....about 40,000 miles on a rebuilt engine

Yesterday, I turned the engine off. Decided to repark the car, and turned it back on....moved it a few feet....and it started racing....key would not turn engine off -- ignition moved to all three positions accessesory and on....and off....would not turn off car....high noise level like screeching metal on metal

Decided to drive it around.....went about 1/2 block still would not turn off....drove 1/2 mile....noticed none of the dash gauges...speedometer or gas gauges were working.....engine began to sound normal no screeching.....pulled car over....STILL COULD NOT TURN IT OFF.....after idlying in park.for about a minute...it just turned it SELF OFF...and would not start again...
any suggestions?

You have a short cicuit in the ignition cicuit! Could be the switch, as for the racing engine, could be a bad accelerator cable, seems like a lot to go wrong at the same time!, but it's 40 years old!
