I have a 1991 5.0 Mustang with 42,000 miles and I have an oil leak from the rear of the motor that is collecting inside the bellhousing. I was wondering if this was caused by a failed rear main seal? If it is the seal, what do I need to do to replace it? Is this something that I can easily do in my garage or do I need to take it somewhere to be fixed. The car is a high horsepower car with a supercharger and aluminum heads. I was wondering if that was causing the leak to happen. I do race the car and I don't want or need a fire to happen. Thanks

The transmission has to come out and the flywheel removed. The oil seal is round and fits on the end of the crank. Get a high temperature seal before you replace it. In performance engines that end of the crank takes a lot of torque. Hopefully your rear main bearing in OK. Good luck

Congratulations on the low mileage fox body! Losone is correct, and it can be done at home with a helper.
