rear pinion seal leak

i have 1969 mustang, 9 inch open, rear end. i bought used traction loc to install , after installation have leak at pinion seal, don't know what needed to change it .can i do it with out alot of special tools. note don't know year or model used rear came out of.( only changed center section.)

I think you can take the nut off the pinion that holds the yolk on...then change seal!

Technically you do need to torque it down to a specific torque spec then check the turning torque of the rear end because there is a crush sleeve behind the pinion that you cannot go to far with the torque or you will have to get a new one and start all over with the pinion depth setting etc. But.... if you are careful and aware of how tight it is before you take it apart and compare the rotating torque of the rear end, I’ve done it successfully many times.
