I have a 65 mustang with a 289 v-8, and I believe that I may have put too much oil in it. So, my question has a few parts.

First, what will happen if there is too much oil in the car?

Second, how will I know if there is too much in the car?

Finally, how do I fix it? Would draining the oil and putting in new oil be sufficient?

#1 To much oil your car will not run right.
#2 check your oil dip stick to see if it's over the fill line.
#3 drain some oil to get it back to your fill line. don't drain all the oil just enough to get it back down to the full line.

Suggested Repair

Check the oil dipstick. If the level is above the full line, drain only enough oil to bring it back to the full mark; do not drain all of the oil.
