Any pending codes stored? Also were you able to look at mode 6 data as well?

I ran the truck with Live Data displayed on the scanner but the only thing that gives me a voltage rating is the oxygen sensors.

The parts store had stock of the EGR Vacuum Solenoid, replaced that, still the code returns.

No pending codes or stored codes.

I'm not sure how to report mode 6 yet from the scan tool. Need to learn how to download the data. Two things I noticed, it failed the upstream delta pressure test and failed the initial tank vacuum and minimum test. Everything else, off of the top of my head did "pass" or "ok".

The EGR Vacuum Solenoid gets initially 14v on one pin and 0.08v on the other, after a few mins 14v on both pins. This is with the connector installed on the solenoid and engine running.

Hello again,

Are you talking about delta pressure for the fuel system or the DPFE system in the exhaust? I'm assuming you are referring to the fuel pressure, but I just want to confirm.

Thanks,
Alex

No, not the solenoid. We are working with the DPFE. That has the 5 volt signals you sent me.

The solenoid will have that until the PCM grounds the return side. Then the voltage will go to 0 and the solenoid will open.

Hello Alex and JIS001,

Okay, so my wife took the truck to the grocery store and around town today. It's still slightly rough but no trouble codes. JIS001, I think I posted my message at just the same time as you when you asked me for TID$53. I checked, I don't have TID$53 available, when I look at the menu Onboard Monitor Test. It does have TID$50.

Here are all the TIDs available and their corresponding data:
TID$50, TOTAL ENGINE MISFIRE RATE AND TYPE: MOD $10; Test 0; Min- ; Max A3D. STS: OK
TID $10, NOT10 FRONT SWITCH RATIO BANK2: ID 21; MOD $10; TEST 2D; Min-; MAX 30. STS: OK
TID $21, INITIAL TANK VACUUM READING (MAX LIMIT): ID 00; MOD $10; TEST EBF0; MIN EB00; MAX-; STS OK.
TID$22, LEAK CHECK VACUUM BLEEDUP: ID 00; MOD $10; TEST 16B; MIN -; MAX 500; STS OK.
TID$25, VAPOR GENERATION MAX PRESSURE RISE: ID 00; MOD $10; TEST 8000; MIN 300; MAX -; STS OK
TID$41 DATA, DELTA PRESSURE FOR UPSTREAM HOSE TEST: ID 11; MOD $10; TEST F; MIN FC80; MAX-; STS FAIL
TID$4A DATA, DELTA PRESSURE FOR LOW FLOW TEST: ID 30; MOD $10; TEST 4C5; MIN 300; MAX-; STS OK
EGR, COMMANDED EGR DUTYCYCLE FOR LOW FLOW TEST: ID 30; MOD $10; TEST 4778; MIN-; MAX 6666; STS OK

Of my I/M READINESS Codes here's what I have:
MIL- OFF
MIS- Ok
FUEL- ok
CCM- ok
CAT- INC
HCAT- N/A
EVAP- ok
Air- N/A
02S- ok
HTR- ok
EGR- ok

Okay, I think that's everything I've got. Any recommendations on software to view this data on my computer? The scanner has a cord to connect to a computer, but doesn't offer any software-strange. What do you think?

Is my MAF always supposed to be 0 at idle?

No, you should have some reading. I am surprised you do do not have a mass air flow code? Inspect the pins at the connector and make sure it is plugged in and locked.

Since it is a pulse width modulated signal, there is no plan B.

Can you get a scan tool that can read this data?

Okay, I solved one portion of it. Got the piece of tape out of #4 spark plug using a 11/16" spring, with a 13mm ratchet stuffed into it so I could crank it. After pushing down into the spray plug canal and twisting it grabbed the tape and pulled right out.

I was driving around with the scan tool plugged in, when a misfire happened and it showed #4. I immediately pulled over, got the tape out after some time. After that, Bc the engine was warm, the plug came out easy. Just in case the coil pack was bad, I swapped it with a good one from #1. Started it up, drove with the scan tool still plugged in but at low speeds it felt fine. I noticed that my Bank 1 fuel trims were still off and felt a rumble at high speeds, so on a chance I grabbed a new coil pack and replaced the one up front. That solved the high speed rumble I was feeling!

I think I still have another slow failing coil pack, bc I feel the occasional rumble, after studying my fuel trims by bank I think it's in bank 2. I think I have a small vacuum leak also but nothing like I was experiencing beforehand.

That did it for now. Thanks for your help!

Thank you for the update. Ford is very bad on misfires. Coils are #1 when it comes to misfires. Spark plugs at times and then fuel injectors. The problem with coils is that at idle they will fire normal but once under load like when accelerating it is when they start to fail. Sometimes the coil boot is what causes arcing under load. If you replaced all the plugs I would recommend replacing all the boots also. A brand name called Standard sells the coil boots which you can change out. If you have a vacuum leak Ford is pretty good at posting a P0171 system too lean bank 1 when both banks are actually running lean. Usually a collapsed or leaking PCV hose will cause this type of fault. Let us know if the check engine light comes on and what codes come out.

That is not something you can monitor with a voltmeter. You need to monitor it with a scan tool. A voltmeter is not fast enough.

Is there a way to remove the DPFE and the solenoid and test them individually? If I put a vacuum to the EGR, the vehicle almost stalls.
