Hello, I have a Ford explorer 1997, 111765 miles on it. Five months ago, I got the pinion and racket replaced. The steering was fine but today, I noticed that the steering wheel fluid had spilled. The fluid actually spilled all over the engine and I do not know why. I do not know if it is related to the pinion and racket, or if something else is wrong. What might cause the steering fluid to spilled? Thank you.

If the filler cap was not replaced correctly then this would allow the fluid to leak out !! the fluid is pumped through the steering system whilst the engine is running and then back to the filler tank .. this and the movement of the vehicle could be the cause .. the cap should be on tightly !!
