I have a 1996 ford escort xlt with 145,600 miles on it. I had been out running errands and my last stop I went out to start the car and it was totally dead. I had the battery check it was fine and the alternator checked out fine. But the it will not turn over and the dash lights don't even come on. It had been running fine all day and did not overheat What could be the problem?

Hello,
First of all make sure the battery some reason loose connection form the cable. Check for corroded terminals, that that can prevent the battery from providing power.

Try jump starting the vehicle and see if it starts.

If it does not start then you might have a wiring issue. Could have a short somewhere.

I have attached the starting diagram for your reference.

Please let me know of any questions.
Thank you.
