I have a 91' ford escort 1.9 L, 4 speed auto. The battery and alt were recently replaced. Now the car will not turn over. The way it started is we would drive the car for a while then park the car. When it was time to leave (car still hot) the car would not start/turn over but if we let sit for 10-20 mins then the car will start. This went on for about 2 weeks but now the car will turn over at all. All instruments light go on and the fuel pump winds up but the car will not start/turn over. The starter was replaced and all the relays were tested/replaced one by one but still the car will not turn over. Any info out there. Thanks.

Hi there.

Thank you for your donation.

Check the auto trans isolator switch is working, and you have power through switch for starting at Park & Neutral. If OK there, you will have to check the starter circuit step by step.

1 Battery is at 12V
2 Pos & Neg Terminals tight and clean.
3 Chassis earth tight & clean
4 Main cable at starter tight and clean
5 12V at main starter terminal
6 12V at solenoid terminal at starter when cranking.

If all above is good starter is faulty, if one or other of above is faulty further investigation is required. I would be checking the isolator switch first.

I hope that this helps.
