Engine Mechanical problem
1991 Ford Escort 4 cyl Automatic

I have a 1991 Ford Escort LX 1.9L. I was driving it about two weeks ago and just died on me in the middle of the road. It was like it ran out of gas (which it did not because it had almost a full tank of gas in it). I was able to coast off the road but when I tried to start it again it would not start. It will crank and turn over but it will not run. Its like it wants to run but can't, like its not getting gas to it. I've checked the plug wires and its getting fire. Its not the coil either. I've checked all of my fuses, the fuel cut off relay (that wasn't it either). I have no clue what it is, but would appreciate any information. Thank you.

You need to check for fuel pressure at the fuel rail.

Can you hear fuel pump kicking in when key is first turned? Should run for a few seconds while key is first turned but not cranking engine.

I have checked everything else including fuel rail and fuel pump, plugs and wires. I also checked the fuses and relays, everything was fine. I checked my timing belt and there was the problem. Missing teeth and timing off. I changed the timing bely and alternator belt and lined up my timing marks and tried to start it again and it backfired. How can I make sure it has the correct timing besides having my #1 pISTON UP, DOES ANYONE HAVE A DIAGRAM OF THE TIMING MARKS? Any response will be appreciated, Thanks.
