1989 Dodge Truck V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

i have a dodge d150 sometimes it starts sometimes it doesnt replaced the fuel filtrer but didnt fix it. I thought it might be the fuel pump but when it doesnt start if you keep trying to crank it again on and off it will start eventually so what might this problem be

Next time it wont start dump some gas or spray some starting fluid down the throttle body and try to start it. Does it fire right up then? If so I would be suspecting a fuel system issue, if not start checking for spark on all cylinders.

Temperature matter?
