I recently blew the head gasket on my car
and I was just wondering what would cause this to happen. There was plenty of engine coolant.

i recently changed my plugs but never gapped them could not gapping the plugs cause this to happen.

also if I change the head gasket will that solve the problem or will I have the head machined and change some bearings?

Hi there,

A head gasket can blow for many reasons, if the car was not overheating before hand (the most common cause) it could of been a flaw in the gasket, a problem with the head bolts loosing tension, sometimes you never know. The head should be checked for warp and straightened and machined before fitting, Block should be clean and it is a good policy to replace head bolts, even if not torque to yield type. Clean the radiator and replace thermostat and you should have no problems.
