When I try to start the truck it takes several cranks to start. It sounds as if it is starving for fuel. When it does start I see black smoke and it runs very ruff. I changed the distributor and button. To see if that was it but problem remains. Should I change the fuel filter if so where can I find it at. Could throttle body be causeing this please help.

If you see black smoke when it starts, that means you are getting too much fuel to the engine. I need you to check fuel pressure and the fuel pressure regulator. Here is a how to for checking it.

Let me know what you find.
