the code p0551 is a power steering switch failure the switch is located on the steering rack , if you have reset the pcm several times and the code keeps coming back this is most likely the problem

Suggested Repair

Replace the power steering pressure switch on the steering rack. P0551 indicates switch failure, and the code returning after repeated PCM resets at freeway speed points to a faulty switch.

Conversation Summary

The owner of a 2000 Dodge Neon reports a P0551 power steering code that clears after a reset but returns at freeway speed, and asks whether the power steering switch is the cause. The expert identifies P0551 as a power steering switch failure, notes that the switch is located on the steering rack, and says a code that keeps returning after multiple PCM resets most likely means the switch is faulty.
