Done cylinder head gasket repair but now car won't start on cranking; before job car started fine.
Now the timing marks aligned; Now practically no compression pressure w/ gauge. Wonder if I should replace valves at this point? How can I diagnose a craked head problelm? Many thanks

Engine size

If the car was running before the job was done
I would double check may work again make sure not missing any thing
do you have spark
do you have fuel pressure
did you check compression
do that and let me know

Machine shop can check the head for you
but you will have compression at least in one or two cylinders
did your timing belt brake prior to the repair and if so possible valve
no compression on all cylinders
check you timing marks again
check valve rockers

Timing marks on the right spot with #1 cylinder at highest point; still can't get any compression and no start; any final ideas greatly appreciated.
(I initially removed old timing belt w/out aligning timing marks, I then proceeded w/ cylinder head removal and gasket placement ; finally I put everything together and aligned timing marks at the end of job. )
This last added in hope of improving my chances;
thanks again.

Did the car start before the head gasket job ?
and if so double check your work

Standard head gasket

step 2 : 1-6 to 50 FT LB and bolts 7-10 to 20 ft lb
step 3: repeat step 2
step 4 : tighten all bolts and additional  turn (DO NOT USE A TORQUE WRENCH FOR THIS STEP )
MULTI LAYER STEEL head gasket
step 1 : tighten bolts 1-6 to 25 ft lb and bolts 7 -10 to 20 ft lb
step 2: 1-6 to 50 ft lb and 7-10 to 35 ft lb
step 3 repeat step two
step 4: Â turn on all (DO NOT use torque wrench for this step )

check the rocker
