obd11 scanner says p0138, 02 sensor. how hard to change and where is it?
or is this a false reading that could be something else?

Hello,

The Code: P0138 - Oxygen sensor voltage high, bank 1 sensor 2.

This code can be triggered due to a bad oxygen sensor, issue with the wiring circuit, faulty PCM.

So yes, this can be a bad oxygen sensor, but it could be something else as well. This oxygen sensor bank 1, sensor 2 is located after the catalytic converter (see diagram below)
