Hello, you will need to check for Spark and Fuel pressure. A vehicle needs Ignition Spark, Fuel pressure and Compression to run. You can hear the fuel pump running but you need to know that the fuel pump is within spec as for pressure. It should be 48-55 psi. Here are two guides for checking for Ignition Spark and Fuel pressure. These Buick 3.8 liter and the 3.6 liter have a port on the fuel rail to attach a fuel pressure gauge. Just make sure to re-leave the fuel pressure first by removing the fuel pump relay or fuse first and cranking the engine over a couple of times. You don't want fuel pressure spraying all over when you try to connect a fuel pressure gauge.
If you have good Spark and fuel pressure, then we would move on to the next set of possibilities.
