rear wheel speed sensor

I failed the emissions test because the code for rear wheel speed sensor came up i bought part and had it
installed and the code will not erase. the sensor is working yet the check engine light is on. is this an electrical problem or a computer problem and how do i find out and repair it

Try unhooking the positive battery cable for about 3 to 5 minutes. This will clear all active codes. Hook the cable back up and run the car around, see if your light comes back on. If it does, then you need it scanned again for another problem, or a problem in that same circuit(bad plug in connector, or maybe a broken wire. Good luck on your repair.
