radio fuse is blown & took it to the mechanic cuz I thought it might be something else. he told me he couldn't replace it b/c it would run the battery down...is this true?

if the radio is wired correctly no it shouldn't drain the battery. if the radio is wired to play with the vehicle off as well as the ignition being off then yes it can drain the battery.
check with someone who specializes installing stereo's this person could have fixed this easily if the knew what they were doing.
