For the past week or so when trying to start my car there has been a 2 second hesitation between the click and the engine turning over. Yesterday the car simply did not start at all and is still unmovable. The battery is brand new and so are the terminals. Is it the starter that has gone out? Could it possibly be the ignition switch? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry for the delay in answering your post. Do you hear one loud clunk from the starter, but it doesn't spin the engine? If so, suspect worn solenoid contacts. They can be replaced for 20 bucks, but most people just replace the entire starter. If you keep cycling the ignition switch, it will crank eventually, but the problem will get progressively worse over the next few weeks or months.
