I have a 1998 Chevy 1500 5.0 automatic (128 k). I have intermittent staring problems, battery died after cranking a couple times, replaced and worked ok, a week later tried to start and it acted like it was not getting fuel but I heard pump priming. Waited 10 minutes and it fired, started several times since no problem. This morning same thing happened, I noticed during all of this that my security light has been on non stop but after it fired up this last time the light is not on? Any ideas on where to go next?

Hi:
It sounds like there may be a problem with the anti theft. If your key has a chip in it, try a different key. If that doesn't work, there is a sensor on the steering column that may be going bad. The only way to be sure is to have it checked by the dealer which should have the proper test equipment.

Let me know how it works our or if you have other questions.

Joe
