2001 Chevy S-10 truck wont start

Today I drove my truck to work and when I was going to leave, I got in my truck and put it in reverse and reversed a few feet and my truck died. What is the problem? I am a rural mail carrier. And this is my work vehicle.

Does the vehicle crank?

A few things could be wrong. But the first step should be checking for spark when cranking and checking for fuel pressure. Get back to me wiht what you find.
