The correct spark plug gap for:

2.2L 4 cyl engine 98-older : 0.060.

for 2.4L cyl engine 95-97 : 0.060.

I'll try the gap size you mention any ways to see if it improves the irraticness sorry about the spelling and thanks again.

You also some have problems with weak coil packs, they cause idle to go on freaky ways as well.
